1988 Fender Custom Shop '57 Mary Kaye Stratocaster Masterbuilt by legendary Fender luthiers John Page and Mike Sevens. This guitar has the most intense flame maple neck we have ever seen from Fender and is not one of the production "Mary Kaye" spec Fenders from this era that is often mistakenly promoted as being this guitar. The flame neck and first Custom Shop logo on the back of the headstock instantly distinguishes this model. This example is one of the earliest Fender Custom Shop guitars ever crafted, with this Strat being ordered in June 1987, allocated work order number 0018 and shipped in March 1988. The neck is by Michael Stevens and Richard Syarto, and the body by John Page. Michael Stevens and John Page were the two originators of the Fender Custom Shop in 1987. This is the first guitar to be built by the Custom Shop directly for the retail market. The first batch of Custom Shop guitars prior to this one were built for Artists and Fender Management. This is truly a piece of Custom Shop history from the largest and most important guitar company in the world.
