This 1951 Epiphone Zephyr Emperor Vari-Tone is a great example of the innovations Epiphone made in the electric guitar market. The denotations “Zephyr” and “Regent” are Epiphone lingo for an electric model with a cutaway, respectively. This instrument features three original New York pickups which can be combined into many possible combinations with the 6-button switching system. Features the original Bakelite pickup mounts, Frequensator tailpiece, compensated rosewood bridge and Epiphone Epsilon tuners. A great large-bodied hollowbody with a spruce top, laminated maple body, 7-ply body binding, bound rosewood fretboard with pearl/abalone block/triangle inlays and branch inlay on the headstock. One can see why the Emperor was Epiphone’s top model before the company merged with Gibson in 1957. Comes with the original label and hard case!
