Essex Recording Studios has been host to many artists from every background & genre you can imagine. Our world class recording facility & famous gear collection has attracted amazing talent from around the world. Here are some of the artists that have chosen our team for their projects:
The Darkness are one of the UK's most recognisable 21st century rock bands around the world. The platinum selling band has taken top honours from Kerrang, MTV, BRIT Awards, Metal Hammer, RIAA, ASCAP and many other awarding bodies. VH1 lists "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" in the top 100 rock songs of all time as well as one of the top songs of the 2000's. A good amount of gear in our studio was used on their records. The band tapped our facility and producer/engineer James Curtis-Thomas to mix on their latest project.
Charlotte Awbery went viral with tens of millions of views across the internet and social media in 2020 after being asked to sing Lady Gaga's "Shallow" in the London subway system (the tube) by a stranger. Charlotte went on to become a global phenomenon on international television after being flown out by Ellen DeGeneres to perform live on her hit TV show. Charlotte chose our team to record her first original songs after becoming a viral household name.
Naomi Banks can be heard on the global Netflix/TV hit show "Love Island" and is regularly playlisted on BBC Radio 1. Banks attended the prestigious Purcell School of Music alongside Grammy winning classmate Jacob Collier. She has performed on some of the most famous stages around the world and is a breakthrough solo artist for 2021. Naomi came to us to record vocals on our Chandler REDD mic for her recent release and now makes our studio her home headquarters for recording.
Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classics
Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classics recorded their album "The Man With Stars On His Knees" at our studio with our producer/engineer James Curtis-Thomas who played drums on the record. Classic Rock Magazine listed the record first in their top 50 albums of 2017. Buchanan had a million dollar record deal with Red Bull Records when he fronted Heaven's Basement, leaving that band to start his solo career. The new act would go on to play the largest rock festivals in the UK and have their singles played regularly on national radio.
T Markoo is a new artist for 2021 who broke through on TikTok with over 4 Million plays of his very first singing duet. He now has hundreds of thousands of loyal followers, millions of likes and 8-digit streams on TikTok thanks to his talented voice & regular engagement with fans. He came to us for his first ever professional studio sessions and to record his debut songs as a professional recording artist.
Voodoo Six are a British band formed by bassist Tony Newton and Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner. They have played some of the biggest arena stages around the world alongside legendary metal heroes Iron Maiden. They have performed at some of the biggest rock festivals in the world including Download and Sonisphere. The band came to us to record vocals and mix on our SSL console for their last release.
Midé shot to fame in 2021 as part of Sir Tom Jones' handpicked singers on Series 10 of TV's The Voice, making it all the way through to the semi-finals. Prior to these regular appearances on national television, Midé came to our producer/engineer James Curtis-Thomas to record his debut album "E.G."
King of the Dead
King of the Dead are the boldest new rock band to emerge out of the UK in 2021. Their debut single "Control" received immediate radio play and earned them recognition from the BBC as a Sound of 2021...a group likely to gain significant momentum this year. This secretive band is formed of young rockers who are veterans of the biggest festivals and tours in the world from their previous bands. A new single is being released each month with unique artwork from horror artist Sam Mayle. All of their songs have been recorded, mixed and mastered here at Essex Recording Studios by our producer/engineer James Curtis-Thomas.
Hannah Paris is a British country singer-songwriter that has wade waves in the UK country music scene. She gained the attention of Spotify this past year and achieved significant placement on official playlists. Hannah came to us to elevate her music and record her first pro-studio single. We also developed a crowdfunding strategy that saw her raise over £1,000 on Kickstarter. The single received immediate radio play, and Hannah was quickly picked up by Hard Rock to be a brand ambassador and play their stage at the iconic Isle of Wight Festival.
